Pronounced "nor - fork", this
town was established in 1823
when the larger Town of Louisville was split in half. By the mid 1800's
is was a busy, working town, harnessing the power of the Raquette for
saw mills, grist mills, paper mills and woolen factories. There was
also a train station for the Norwood
& St. Lawrence Railway. Only
the paper mill is still operating today, in this pleasant residential
community. The Norfolk
Historical Museum on West Main Street has displays related to the
town history.
The Dominic W. Zappia community
Center is a multi-purpose arena used
for recreational skating during the winter, as well as the home ice of
the Norwood-Norfolk
Flyers High School
hockey team. The Norfolk Community Concert Series presents a variety of
concerts every year. The Holiday Bazaar, Summer Socials, Chicken
Bar-be-ques, and church dinners make Norfolk a welcoming,
family-friendy place to live. Visit their official Town website
for more
information and a calendar of events. Find out why Norfolk is - "Tops
